Chairs for working above normal desk height: the Malaga Polyurethane Medium Back Hi Rise Draughtsman Chair, plus the Hi Rise Draughtsman Kit that converts a standard chair with a footring, longer gas lift and glides. Draughtsman chairs exist because perching an ordinary office chair at a counter never works: your feet dangle, the gas lift tops out, and by lunchtime you are standing anyway. A proper hi rise seat with a footring fixes all three at once.
Choosing a draughtsman chair
The Malaga is the workhorse here, and the polyurethane seat is the point: it wipes clean and shrugs off the workshops, labs, print rooms and goods-in counters where these chairs spend their lives, environments that would ruin an upholstered fabric task chair inside a year. Medium back, height adjustment through a long lift, and a footring so your feet have somewhere honest to be.
If you already own operator chairs you like, the Hi Rise Kit is the cheaper route: a longer gas lift, footring and glides that take many standard chairs up to counter height, and it lives alongside our other chair spares and parts. The Cosmo Hi Rise over on the Cosmo chairs page is the other ready-made option, and the stools and draughtsman page collects the whole tall seating family in one place.
Long shifts at counter height
Anyone sitting at height for full days deserves the same standards as at a desk: adjustable back, decent seat, stable base. For bigger builds or multi-shift patterns, look at heavy duty chairs and 24 hour chairs too, and ask us which of those can be built up to counter height.
Draughtsman chairs in Belfast and across Northern Ireland
From labs in Belfast to workshops in Derry, we supply draughtsman seating across Northern Ireland, with Lisburn, Antrim, Newtownabbey, Bangor and Newry all on the regular run. Chairs arrive assembled, gas lifts fitted and footrings set to the sitter, and the packaging goes away with us.
Counter heights vary far more than desk heights do, so measure yours before ordering, floor to the underside of the worktop. If the numbers look odd, ring +44 (0)2890 770019 and we will tell you which lift length you actually need.
