The Mawsley modular range in every unit it makes: corner, D-end, left and right ends, central backless sections, and 90 degree curves in inner, outer and backless versions, plus ready-planned sets from a straightforward sofa to circular islands, capsule islands and booths. Modular seating is how breakout areas stay useful as a business changes: the same units that make an L-shaped sofa today can become two islands and a booth after the next office move, without buying anything new.
Planning a modular layout
Start with the ready-made Mawsley sets if the space is simple: the sofa and L-shaped corner sofa configurations furnish a corner of a canteen or reception in one order. For anything larger, build from units. Corner and end pieces close off a run, backless central units let people sit on both sides in an open floor, and the curved sections turn straight runs into arcs and full circles. The circular island set is the classic centrepiece for a big atrium or open plan floor.
Think about backs and sight lines. Backed units create enclosure and a hint of privacy, which suits quiet corners; backless units keep sight lines open and work harder in busy spaces, since nobody ends up facing a wall of upholstery. Mixing the two, backs on the outside and backless through the middle, is usually the layout that gets used most.
What goes alongside
Breakout seating needs surfaces: coffee and occasional tables at seat height, or the Brixworth coffee tables if you want a matching timber note. Add armchairs and sofas for the softer corners, stools for casual perching, and a privacy booth where calls need taking. The wider soft seating range fills any gaps.
