Nearly two hundred computer chairs, from the Zeus medium mesh back operator through to the Xenon and Zure high back executives, with mesh, fabric and leather options at every point between. A computer chair is the one piece of furniture your team touches for seven hours a day, so this is the category where a sensible spend pays back fastest, long before anyone notices the desks.
Choosing a computer chair
Match the chair to the hours. For a couple of hours a day almost anything comfortable will do. For full time screen work you want adjustable arms, seat depth adjustment and decent lumbar support, which is where chairs like the Stealth Shadow mesh back earn their keep; and if the same seat is occupied round the clock, skip straight to the 24 hour chairs. Mesh backs such as the Zeus and Vegalite run cooler, while padded backs like the Winsor in black leather feel more traditional.
Think about the room as well. White shell chairs like the Zure suit bright modern fit outs, while the Thrift high back in black leather reads as executive furniture. Where several people share one workstation, prioritise obvious, easy adjustment: a straightforward task and operator chair that anyone can reset in ten seconds beats a plush chair nobody adjusts.
Desks and accessories to go with it
A good chair works best with the desk at the right height and the screen at eye level, so pair it with a monitor arm and, if the budget stretches, a sit stand desk. Working from the spare room? The same chairs appear in our home office chairs selection, picked over for domestic spaces. And for posture specific needs, start at ergonomic and posture chairs instead.
