Every noise fix we carry under one roof: the Sch! range of desktop screens, floor standing screens, ceiling baffles, wall tiles and hanging panels, in wave, oblong and rectangle shapes. Noise is the complaint we hear most from open plan offices, and it rarely needs a refit to solve. In most rooms a sensible mix of desktop screens, a couple of floor screens and a run of ceiling baffles over the loudest bank of desks takes a space from echoey to comfortable in an afternoon.
Where to start with office acoustics
Start with the hard surfaces, because that is where the echo lives. Bare plasterboard, glass and laminate floors bounce speech around the room, so the first job is to put soft material between people and those surfaces. The Sch! desktop screens deal with speech travelling across a bank of desks, the floor standing screens break up sight lines and sound paths between teams, and the wall tiles, sold in sets of four, soak up the reflections that make a room sound bigger and harsher than it is.
If the ceiling is the problem, and in converted units with exposed soffits it usually is, the Sch! ceiling baffles hang vertically in rows and do more per panel than anything mounted on a wall. They come in several shapes and types, so you can treat a whole ceiling or just the zone above the noisiest desks. For calls and heads-down work, privacy booths and pods give people somewhere to take the conversation instead.
What to pair them with
Acoustic treatment works best alongside a sensible layout. Screens mount straight onto bench desks and standard desking, acoustic wall tiles tidy up meeting rooms, and soft furniture such as modular seating quietly absorbs sound while giving people somewhere to sit. If you are planning a whole floor, our open plan office collection gathers the lot in one place.
Acoustic solutions in Belfast and across Northern Ireland
Office Interior Solutions is a Belfast office furniture company, and we supply and fit acoustic products everywhere from Newtownabbey and Lisburn to Antrim, Bangor and Newry. Delivery and installation are part of the job, baffles and wall panels are hung properly rather than left in boxes, and we take all the packaging away with us.
Acoustics is one area where a quick conversation saves money, because it is easy to buy twice as many panels as a room actually needs. Send us a photo of the space and a rough floor plan, or ring +44 (0)2890 770019, and we will tell you honestly what will make the difference.
