Choosing an Impulse bench setup

Buy the starter, extend with kits. An Impulse starter unit has legs at both ends; each extension kit adds positions using the shared leg of the run before it, so plan for the eventual size of the team, not just today's headcount. Back to back is the efficient choice for open plan floors, putting two rows of people on one spine; single row suits narrower rooms and wall runs where everyone faces the same way.

Cabling makes or breaks a bench. Because positions share a spine, power and data can run the length of the bench once instead of desk by desk, and it is far easier to do during installation than afterwards, so we fit trays and risers from our cable management range as part of the build. If some of the team want to stand, mixing in height adjustable desks at the end of a run works well.

Finishing the run

Most benches get desktop screens between facing positions, partly for noise and partly for the psychological line down the middle. Personal storage goes underneath: one mobile unit per person from pedestals and drawers is the usual recipe.
